Pharmacy Business Analyst & Tech Supervisor (FT Salaried)

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
To lead and supervise daily activities of the pharmacy technician group in coordination with the Pharmacy Operations Manager. This position will require the performance of normal pharmacy technician duties in addition to the supervisory functions.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Duty 1: Able to perform all functions of the pharmacy technicians including IV preparation, chemotherapy preparation, and outpatient pharmacy technician activities.
- Duty 2: Handles all human resource functions for the technician group under the direction of the pharmacy director. These functions include but are not limited to payroll, scheduling, performance reviews, and disciplinary issues.
- Duty 3: Utilizes project management skills and project plans to implement new systems within the department.
- Duty 4: Utilizes performance improvement tools including LEAN to enhance the performance of the pharmacy department. Assists in all scorecard and benchmarking activities and takes a lead in key safety initiatives
- Duty 5: Performs audits, inspections, and other tasks related to medication safety and potential medication diversion under the discretion of a licensed pharmacist.
- Duty 6: Performs pharmacy business related functions and analysis including inventory control, purchasing review, gap analysis. Works with the pharmacy leadership team to implement new systems.
- Duty 7: Provides strong leadership skills and acts as a role model for other associates. Provides exceptional service excellence skills both within and outside the department.
- Duty 8: Participates in departmental and organizational committees at the discretion of the pharmacy director.
- Duty 9: Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office © products as well as Meditech. Utilizes these tools to evaluate the performance of the department.
- Duty10: Assists in meeting all regulatory requirements within the department including The Joint Commission, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and other agencies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in a business related field or actively working towards a bachelor’s degree in a business related field.
- Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or other agency at the discretion of the pharmacy director.
- At least 5 years of experience as a pharmacy Technician or equivalent healthcare experience.
- Ability to perform all functions of the pharmacy technicians including IV and chemotherapy preparation
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office ® and Meditech
- Project management, business analysis, and performance improvement skills
- Self-directed, detail oriented, leadership skills that promote a positive work environment
- Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures.
- A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver’s license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting , pushing, pulling, sitting and standing. The associate must be able to stand for five hours, walk for two hours and sit for one hour per day. The individual must be able to lift 35 pounds. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must have excellent eye-hand coordination and reach work above their shoulders. Associate must have excellent verbal communication skills. Also requires exposure to chemotherapy and heat, cold, bodily injury and other toxic substances.
