Senior Software Engineer

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software applications and tools. This person will work closely with cross-functional leaders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress. The ideal candidate will have exceptional software design skills and experience working with a range of technologies to build robust and scalable solutions tailored for enterprise environments, particularly in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into software solutions.
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of software applications tailored to the needs of our manufacturing environment, utilizing C#, .NET, and other technologies.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following established coding standards and best practices.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues in existing software applications, providing timely resolutions and updates using tools like Visual Studio and Git.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within manufacturing workflows using automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and other development tools.
  • Develop and deploy RESTful APIs and automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and increase operational efficiency.
  • Lead system integration efforts, addressing challenges in raw material applications and shipping systems.
  • Take ownership of high-level projects, such as system forecasting and shipping system updates, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with external stakeholders.
  • Prototype and develop long-term strategic projects with a focus on modularity and scalability.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for projects, including system architecture diagrams created in Visio, ensuring they align with broader organizational strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership in the development of cloud-based applications and DevOps processes to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Mentor junior developers and participate in performance reviews, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and development.
Technologies & Tools
  • Programming Languages: C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python (or similar backend and frontend languages).
  • Frameworks: ASP.NET Core, MVC, Entity Framework, or other .NET frameworks.
  • Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or similar relational databases; proficiency in writing SQL queries and managing large datasets.
  • API Development: RESTful API design, development, and integration.
  • Version Control: Git or similar version control systems for code management and team collaboration.
  • Development Tools: IDEs like Visual Studio, JetBrains Rider, or equivalent.
  • DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like Azure for deploying and managing software.
  • Reporting Tools: Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or similar tools for generating reports and dashboards.
  • System Visualization: Expertise in Visio or similar tools for documenting system architecture and workflows.
  • EDI Systems: Knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems, particularly in managing order entry and processing.
  • Automation: Ability to leverage code, develop scripts, and use tools to automate tasks and streamline processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Over 5 years of hands-on experience in software development, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • Strong understanding of .NET development and proficiency with relevant tools and frameworks.
  • Business systems integrations, including MRP, Logistics, WMS, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) products.
  • Experience in cloud computing, API development, and database management (e.g., SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with Visio for creating and maintaining system architecture diagrams.
  • Leadership in project rollouts, including piloting features and working with external vendors to deploy systems to production.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently to resolve technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and engage with manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Prior experience in software development for manufacturing, ERP, or related fields is a plus.
