JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO:
Production Supervisor
DIRECT REPORTS:

ROLE:
The Packaging Associate is responsible for the final review of finished product and packaging materials and for packaging product for delivery to our end user, the customer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Visually inspect finished products and packaging materials to ensure they meet quality expectations
Communicate concerns to Quality Auditor, Operator, Lead Operator and/or SupervisorDiscard product that does not meet expectations in accordance with site procedures
Be cognizant of surroundings and report any environmental, equipment or material issues that may arise.Package all product types for all lines in the facilityPackage final products in accordance with the specification requirements including
Count and/or stack heightBagging of productsSealing of bagsBoxing of product sleevesApply required labeling and ensure date coding and other necessary information is as expectedBuild/stack boxes in accordance with pallet/stack layout
Manually palletize as required
Perform rework for rejected product or damaged boxesAble to properly utilize packaging equipment, including
Resetting the ink jet printers.Operating the auto bagger and making minor adjustments as needed to ensure the product is protected.Using taping and/or box sealing equipment to properly seal the boxLoad and stage KDs (boxes), as directedChange or replace tape in box taperClear product jams in packaging equipment
Communicate need for restock of packaging materials on the linesAssist in scrap management
Safely utilize the grinders to ensure scrap is recycled in a manner that ensures reintegration into the manufacturing processRemove scrap products or from around the former and place in appropriate disposal buggy
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection and appropriate footwearGood Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements, including but not limited to clean clothing that does not have beading, sequins, rhinestones, or other decoration that may become lose and fall into the manufacturing process, hair and/or beard nets, clean nails that are free of polish and natural eyelashesStandard Work Practices or Processes (SWP) requirements, including but not limited to:
Following step by step proceduresMaintaining workstation organizationRecording/tracking production
General Safety Rule requirements, including but not limited to not taking unsafe actions; reporting near misses, unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to the Supervisor, following proper lifting procedures, being attentive and using common sense
Participate in all required communication and training meetingsSupport all LEAN and Continuous Improvement initiatives, including but not limited to 5S (Sort, set, shine, standardize and sustain) Standard Work and Eliminate Waste.Additional responsibilities as assigned.
