Job Description
Fugro geophysical service line provides geophysical surveys designed to facilitate the identification of natural and man-made features on the seafloor and within the shallow subsurface. To this purpose, various geophysical technologies are employed, and their raw data processed through a series of techniques and algorithms to extract meaningful information about these features. Steps include data quality control, noise removal, filtering, and data enhancement. These processes aim to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio, improve resolution, and create interpretable images or models of the subsurface.
The
Offshore Geophysical Data Processor
provides support for marine geophysical projects and hydrographic surveys in the form of data processing and analysis in an offshore environment.
Job ResponsibilitiesLead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.Performs data collection and processing duties in an offshore environment onboard a vessel.Post-process and analysis of multibeam echosounder (MBES) bathymetry, multibeam backscatter, sides-scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler, navigation, and imagery from AUV and conventionally towed sensors.Ensures that each project is processed to high quality standards.Interacts with other staff members in interpretation, CAD, and GIS to help prevent reoccurring data processing issues and reworks.Learns technical information about geophysical sensors and understand associated processing workflows.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manual. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate to the onboard client or fellow employees.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Job Requirements
Legally authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.Possess a valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record.Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel.TWIC, OGUK (Medical), water survival and other required safety certifications required for working offshore.Possess an associate degree in a Technical or Survey discipline. A bachelor's degree or higher in Geomatics, Surveying and Mapping, GIS, or related discipline preferred.Have two years or more experience with geophysical related data processing.Have two years or more experience with geophysical AUV / seismic and mechanical survey data acquisition systems, i.e., AUV operations, Side-scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profilers, Seismic, Multibeam Echo Sounders a plus.Geophysical field experience a plus.Survey experience with configuring and utilizing any of the following software would be considered a strong attribute; CARIS, Oasis Montaj, Amazon Web Services, Qincy, Hypack, GIS, AutoCAD, Fledermaus, Microsoft office 365, PosPac, Chesapeake SonarWiz, and TerraPos.Category A (CAT-A) or ACSM accreditation is desirable but not required.
