Unit Specifics: Med Surg Ortho RNNumber of Beds: 29Ratios: 1:5-6Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Joint replacements, neuro-surgical, GI surgical, oncology, and others not requiring higher careTitration of drips: Not requiredCharge Nurse and their dutiesSupport staff and their ratiosReading of basic rhythms required for RNsUnit's focus on hourly rounding, bedside shift report, nurse communication, and team nursingUnit's orientation scheduleAdditional Details
ACLS Preferred, BLSDepartment: Med Surg Ortho RN- # of Beds: 29- Ratios: 1:5-6- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Joint replacements, neuro-surgicals, GI surgicals, oncology, anything medical not requiring a higher level of care- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: PCAs- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes- does take patient assignments regularly when needed- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios?: Yes- 1:10- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips?: Yes, must be able to read basic rhythms- Floating Requirements: Will float to Inpatient Rehab unit, Skilled Nursing unit as well as our Progressive Care Unit, taking MS appropriate assignments. Staff may float to other departments to task/help and not assume a patient assignment depending on department/organization needs.- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: Navy Blue- Faced paced unit with a fluctuating census. Unit is focused on hourly rounding, bedside shift report, nurse communication and team nursing. Looking for team members who are team players, positive, flexible, willing to learn/adapt, and are dependable.- Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidate may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.- RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
