Job Details

Provide quality patient care to all patients within the medical imaging departmentPerform high quality images and exams on patients while maintaining the sensitivity to patient needsFollows standards of safe radiation practiceDemonstrates leadership abilities and is a role model for other associate technologistsActs as a clinical resource to unit personnel and assures current standards of practice for the unitPerforms diagnostic imaging procedures, providing safety for self, patients and all other individualsPractices all rules and regulations pertaining to radiation safety, reducing personal and patient exposure to 'as low as reasonably achievable' (ALARA)Produces quality images in a complete, accurate and timely mannerPrepares patient for examProvides information and instruction to patient and/or family regarding the procedureResponds to physical and emotional needs of patientsAssists the patient during exam and positions the patientObserves patient and equipment during the procedure and reports / documents unusual occurrencesRecords patient's conditionFacilitates smooth patient flow, scheduling and optimal use of equipment/resourcesCommunicates with all physicians, imaging personnel, students and hospital staff in facilitating the continuum of careAssists with patient transport as neededPerforms IV starts and contrast administration as requiredPerforms technologist duties of other registered modality as assigned by managementProvides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policyCorrectly inputs charges and required data for procedures and for supplies utilized during the procedure/examCompletes required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performedPrepares room, equipment, and exam materials needed for examMaintains technical operation of equipment and notifies service when necessaryMaintains clean work area for employees and patientsMaintains quality checks and equipment maintenance documentationProactive in problem identification and following up with appropriate management personnelEstablishes a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff and system departmentsMaintains high skill level through ongoing education / meeting attendance and shares information with staffParticipates in clinical training for students and/or staff technologistsEngages in professional activities through involvement in organizations, journal clubs, on-line education, etc.Actively participates in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiativesMaintains compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation and hospital regulations and standardsContributes to ACR accreditation as requestedDemonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirementsAdapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibilityJob Requirements

Minimum Experience RequirementsFloat Requirements: -Floating may be required to any Centura location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or Centura-identified 'float zone'Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements (including skill set) in accordance with Centura policy
