As a Rapid Response Nurse you will be part of a health care team that delivers nursing and collaborative medical aspects of care to specific populations within the scope of care delineated by the licensing board and professional standards of care. Rapid Responders collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members to review the plan of care, intervene when necessary to ensure adequate delivery of quality/cost-effective care, and maintain continuity of care through appropriate referral and follow-up.In this role you will:Respond to RRT and Code Blue events collaborating with the ICU charge nurse and house supervisor to address emergent patient needs throughout the hospital and support other time-critical patient events as needed.Act as a clinical support resource RN and provide support and education to bedside nurses. The Rapid Response nurse should never be used as the procedure nurse, rather as a facilitator to the primary nurse.Communicate daily with each charge nurse to identify high-risk patients.Round on all medical-surgical units three times a shift to address MEWS scores and questions and/or staff concerns.Assess all “at-risk” patients as identified by MEWS score increasesMonitor surgery schedule and round on any “at-risk” post-op patientsRound on all patients who have been transferred out of the ICU within the last 24 hoursFacilitate debriefings/critiques post codesComplete 24 hours post-RRT/Code Blue follow up documentationRefer patient complaints to appropriate Unit ManagersUtilize chain of command to ensure appropriate action is takenFacilitate a staff satisfaction feedback system for RRTAll other duties as assignedQualifications:Graduate of an accredited program of nursing: associate degree or baccalaureate program. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.Current Idaho State RN license in good standing.American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS on hireAmerican Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain ALS or ACLS is required within 90 days of hireNIH Stroke Scale CertificationCCRN, CNRN, and/or CEN preferred; required after 6 months completion in positionPALS within 90 days of hireMinimum of 2 years professional nursing experience in Intensive Care or Emergency DepartmentEastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318+ patient beds. Our hospital is the largest medical facility in the region. We serve southeast Idaho, western Wyoming, Yellowstone National Park, and parts of Montana. Our facility has an ER, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level 1 ICU (one of two in Idaho), and the only Burn Center in the state of Idaho. We have the region’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for critically ill children. Our 74-bed Behavioral Health Center offers inpatient and outpatient mental health care for adolescents and adults.We are part of the HCA Healthcare network - which includes more than 300 affiliate facilities across the country – offering our colleagues the opportunity for travel and relocation.
