HCA Healthcare (Parent) affiliated Parkridge Medical Center located in Chattanooga, TN, has an open position in the Progressive Care Unit.The PCU delivers highly individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care such as: Sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, heart blocks, post cardiac catheterization, AKI, CKD, diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis, CVA, acute and chronic respiratory failure, GI bleed, pneumonia, post-operative day one coronary artery bypass grafting, post-operative day one aortic valve surgery, post thoracic surgery, post neurosurgery, as well as other complex patients.Job Requirements

Requested Skill Set includes cardiac/telemetry experience, PCU and/or critical care experience.Advanced skills needed: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, early patient mobility.Procedures performed on unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs.Schedule Information

Scheduling requirements include 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.Self-scheduling (within reason to allow balanced staffing).May request days off as needed prior to schedule closing.Schedule will be finalized 2 weeks in advance.Can accommodate block scheduling for night shift.Unit Specific Information

Number of Beds: 29Patient Ratios: 4:1Unit staffing description - Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census. Nightshift has 2-3 PCTs depending on census.Type of equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLabDocumentation system: MeditechWe have experienced RNs on both day and night shift, including RNs on both shifts with ICU experience.There are more travel RNs on night shift vs dayshift, but resources are available on both shifts to answer any questions.Additional Details

Travel RNs float first and rotate floating, with the oldest float date floating first.We have a heavy cardiac patient population, and the CV surgery patients come to PCU when they leave our ICU.We perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments and chart each one fully.Typical patient care includes managing gtts such as Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetolol, Insulin, and we also titrate Precedex.
