Scope of WorkAs Sustainability Manager, I fully comprehend the vision of Six Senses to help people reconnect with themselves, others and the world around them, plus our values of local sensitivity and global sensibility, crafted experiences, emotional hospitality, responsible and caring, fun and quirky, and pioneering wellness. By embracing the Six Senses vision and values, I will deliver an exceptional experience for guests and develop hosts to be the very best they can be.

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do at Six Senses. As Sustainability Manager, I will ensure all directives on environmental protection and preservation, re-usage and minimum wastage, purchasing and packaging, social responsibility, and all other practices documented in the Sustainability Guidelines are followed in the resort to maintain a harmonious and sensitive approach to our environment and cultural surroundings.

I will fully embrace, implement and safeguard the Wellness overall philosophy, concepts, and programs such as the Sleep With Six Senses, Eat With Six Senses, and Grow With Six Senses platforms.

In this role, I will assume full responsibility for the efficient operation of the Sustainability function to provide ongoing compliance with Sustainability Guidelines and execution of the approved resort-specific Sustainability Action Plan.

I will manage the Sustainability Fund on a monthly basis and ensure the funds are collected and distributed in an effective and transparent manner, documenting the projects and initiatives the fund supports.

Developing and maintaining relationships with key community organizations and representatives such as schools, special interest groups, local government departments, and tourism associations is an important part of this role. Engagement with the local community on a regular basis will ensure the property is an active and supportive member through Sustainability Fund projects and educational/fun sustainability activities.

I will develop and lead sustainable host events on a monthly basis that are fun, engaging, and supportive of a culture of sustainability among the team. In addition, I will connect the resort with globally recognized sustainability events, initiatives, and ‘citizen science’, such as Earth Day, World Ocean’s Day, and Global Shoreline Clean-Up for guests and hosts.

I manage existing relationships with sustainability-related partners and identify opportunities for enhancing existing or adding new partnerships, as applicable. I also cultivate strategic partnerships with organizations to receive Sustainability Fund support, and in-kind support from Six Senses hosts, based on guidance around themes and causes from the General Manager and Home Office Sustainability.

In conjunction with the Experiences team, I will develop and lead Sustainability-related experiences for guests that highlight the resort’s sustainability efforts, the local community/culture, the unique environment, and Sustainability Fund projects.

By keeping abreast of industry trends and practices and continually updating my knowledge and skills, I will implement the most suitable sustainability practices for the operation that are relevant and in line with Six Senses policies. I will perform any additional duties given to me by the General Manager and attend meetings as instructed by the General Manager and VP of Sustainability.

QualificationTo execute the position of Sustainability Manager, I confirm that I have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a closely-related field. I also have the technical skills and at least two years’ experience in a sustainability-related role within hospitality with proven results. I am a personally involved, visible, and proactive host with excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. I am capable of providing focused direction and continuing to establish the property’s prominent sustainability position within the market and am comfortable engaging with a wide range of cultures in diverse locations and settings.

I possess sound judgement and professionalism, and I can identify priorities and effectively execute tasks and projects in a timely manner. I have the ability to work with all levels of the organization. I have a solid understanding of the latest trends and techniques in sustainability, plus the ability to successfully implement sustainability initiatives.
