Job Overview
The Medical Laboratory Supervisor will oversee MLM Laboratory's Central Lab Services. This position will report to Sr. Director, Central Lab ensuring CLIA and CAP compliance, quality control, clinical trial biomarker testing, nonclinical assay validation and sample testing.
Responsibilities
- Ensure laboratory compliance consistent with CLIA and CAP regulations.
- Implement new testing protocols and methodologies. This includes equipment and/ or test validation, employee training and competency, and writing procedures.
- Reviews quality controls and patient results.
- Plans, organizes, and controls laboratory activities.
- Performing comparison studies of precision, accuracy, and linearity
- Develops and maintains performance standards to include quality assessment/ improvement programs.
- Maintain inventory levels.
- Review and revise standard operation procedures.
- Manage employees.
- Must be able to perform all testing, calibration, qc, and maintenance activities in the laboratory.
- Establishing and monitoring safety programs in compliance with laboratory regulations.
- Utilizing laboratory information systems or other methods to report patient results accurately and effectively.
- Supporting other facility laboratories as needed to support clinical trial biomarker testing and nonclinical assay validation and sample testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 1 year training and experience in high-complexity testing.
- National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or by American Medical Technologists (AMT) as a Medical Technologist (MT).
- Must hold a valid Tennessee Medical Technologist License.
Bonus Qualifications
- Master's degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical or biological science
- State of Tennessee General Supervisor License of a clinical Lab (Must obtain within 2 months of hire if awarded position)
- One (1) year of full-time clinical laboratory work experience in a CLIA or CAP certified laboratory.
- Experience with Roche Cobas 6000 analyzer series, u411 urine analyzer, and Sysmex hematology analyzer.
