Legal Assistant - Commercial Litigation

Trustpoint is proud to partner with a respected business law firm in their search for a Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant, on a direct hire basis, to support the firm's business and commercial litigation matters, in their Dallas, TX office. Successful candidates will have 3+ years' experience in litigation at a law firm, previous commercial litigation is preferred. Responsibilities:
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents, including editing and formatting appellate briefs
- Assist attorneys with meetings, hearings and trials, including preparing notebooks
- Scheduling, calendaring and organizing files
- Assist with client billing and prepare expense reports
- Draft pleadings and discovery shells
- Apply critical thinking skills to support a team-oriented environment
Requirements:
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role within litigation; commercial litigation (preferred)
- Knowledge of rules of civil procedure; experience with e-Filing in state and federal courts in Texas
- Capable of 80+ wpm and excellent computer/software skills
- Able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team; maintaining efficiency in a deadline-driven environment
- Exceptional organization, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written, utilizing excellent spelling and proofreading skills
- Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Acrobat
- Working knowledge of TOC's and TOA's
- Experience working with a document management system ( i.e. iManage) (preferred)
- All candidates must be able to work at a computer screen for a sustained amount of time
