JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Parks & Recreation Coordinator, the Camp Coordinator position will oversee the Camp Counselors and manage the implementation of day camp activities throughout the duration of the day camp program including arts & crafts, inside & outside games, field trips and any other activities related to day camp. This position will supervise all day camp participants throughout the duration of the day camp program and during all camp activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Minimum age requirement of 21. High School diploma or GED with two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field sufficient to understand the diverse objectives and function of the Day Camp Coordinator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires certification in CPR and First Aid (city-sponsored.) A valid Georgia Driver's License is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires lifting, bending, running, crouching and being able to stand for long periods at a time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This worked is performed both indoors and outdoors, depending on the schedule of daily camp activities.

- Handles complaints from youth, parents, and the public.
- Encourages/enforces proper conduct of participants.
- Makes innovative suggestions for programs, problems, and inefficiencies.
- Adheres to all housekeeping and safety standards and ensures that the camp participants do not violate those standards.
- Transport youth to and from activities
- Assume other responsibilities within the scope of the position as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Coordinator.

- Knowledge and familiarity with the Day Camp Handbook
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organize and plan with minimal supervision
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision
- Ability to adapt to day camp settings
- Ability to relate to children in a positive manner, be able to take & follow directions from supervisor
- Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers and the public
