Then you have the characteristics of an LCLC tutor!
Literacy Tutor Overview
LCLC tutors partner with adult learners in pursuing their personal goals by improving literacy in areas such as reading, writing, speaking, digital literacy, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
LCLC tutors are assigned the same learner to work with weekly for a minimum of 6 months, fostering relationship building while collaboratively working towards mutually agreed-upon literacy-focused goals. Tutors must be 18 years and older.
Tutor Role & Responsibilities
- Meet 1.5-2 hours weekly with assigned learner(s) for a minimum of 6 months (Flexible scheduling options available!)
- Prepare session materials and plans that support the learner’s pursuit of goals
- Update LCLC on goals, progress, accomplishments, challenges via online submission
Training
LCLC tutors receive core tutor training, resources, and ongoing training support from our staff and board throughout their experience as an LCLC tutor. In addition to providing initial and ongoing training and support, LCLC also has a tutor communication tool to allow tutors to communicate and share best practices to further collaboration and be a part of the LCLC Tutoring Community!
