Responsibilities

Position Summary:

According to the ACGME Institutional Requirements the purpose of graduate medical education (GME) is to provide an organized educational program with guidance and supervision of the resident facilitating the residents ethical professional and personal development while ensuring safe and appropriate care for patients. In St. Rose Residency GME programs the residency program director is responsible for the organization and implementation of these objectives for his/her program. Specific responsibilities may be delegated by the program director but he/she is responsible to the GME Committee the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and to the ACGME Residency Review Committee for the timely and accurate completion of all tasks. Physicians-in-training include Medical Students (MD/DO) residents and fellows who for the purposes of this policy will be referred to as residents or students (see GME General Policies). GME programs may be characterized as: ACGME accredited - for which there are specific ACGME program requirements Non-ACGME-accredited-for which there are no specific ACGME program requirements. The program directors of non-ACGME programs are exempted from some responsibilities. Such exemptions are designed with an asterisk (*) below.Responsibilities of the residency program director include all ACGME Institutional Requirements effective July 1 2003 - www.acgme.org

Responsibilities

  • Directs the Graduate Medical Education (GME) program: supervises and teaches residents, oversees continuing medical education, directs faculty and supervises and manages office support personnel
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures essential to the functioning of the residency program and that help meet the standards of the ACGME
  • Participates in recruitment of faculty, Chief Residents, and staff
  • Promotes development of policies and procedures that guide and support the Internal medicine program
  • Helps to ensure best coordination with residency rotations and services
  • Monitors residents for stress, sleep deprivation, excessive fatigue or other performance inhibiting conditions
  • Ensures compliance with work hour rules mandated by the ACGME
  • Serves as Teaching Attending Physician for Inpatient Ward Teaching Service (GME service) as assigned; supervises and directs house staff in the management of GME Service patients
  • Assists as Clinic Teaching Attending on as needed basis

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in administrative educational and/or clinical services.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing a Residency Program.
  • Support of post-graduate medical education program(s)
  • Masters Degree - M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Board qualified or certified.
  • State of Nevada licensed physician.
  • Membership in appropriate professional associations and societies
  • DEA = Drug Enforcement Administrator certificate
  • LIC CSL = Nevada State Board of Pharmacy Controlled Substance license
  • CT CPRBLS = Basic Life Support CPR
  • Professional Liability Insurance CT INS
  • Mentoring experience.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality regulations regarding all patient and company information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate medical education including residency training and requirements and ACGME requirements applicable computer software National Match requirements and Medicare GME-related requirements.

Pay Range
$112.63 - $161.71
