Corporate Counsel, Last Mile Legal, WW Ops

We are looking for a skilled attorney to support all aspects of the insurance and claims program for Amazon’s innovative and fast-growing Last Mile logistics and transportation operations. You will be an integral part of the business teams you support, serving as counsel on a broad range of matters, including:

  1. Advising on the development and launch of insurance products and other services for both traditional transportation companies and the gig economy, including identifying legal, regulatory, and compliance risks and mitigation strategies;
  2. Supporting all aspects of claims administration as managed through third-party and internal functions, including defining legal and regulatory requirements and supporting the development and implementation of internal compliance functions;
  3. Analyzing insurance policies, including commercial auto, general liability, workers' compensation and other types of insurance coverage and recommend changes/modifications;
  4. Evaluate internal processes for risk/compliance with state and federal law and regulations;
  5. Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, including reinsurance agreements, service contracts with third-party administrators, program administrator/brokerage agreements, and other vendor contracts.

In all of these matters, you will develop strategies for handling legal and regulatory issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that manage risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

You would advise directly on all US legal matters, and would coordinate with overseas lawyers (both in-house and external counsel) for local legal expertise to support overseas programs. Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Experience in the insurance and claims industry
  • Knowledge of state and federal insurance laws and regulations
  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
