Northrop Grumman Space Systems Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Test Engineer / Principal Software Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL. Position Overview: The selected Software Test Engineer/Principal Software Test Engineer will work on the Modeling and Simulation Framework (MASC-F) program with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and developers. Essential Functions: Writing programs using C++, Java or similar languages Creating and running unit test Developing software documentation Creating and running automated software builds and pipelines in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment Collaborating with Stakeholders and Government customers Working within an Agile team environment, to include Program Increment Planning, Iteration Planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, and Iteration Retrospectives. Participating in demos for the team and program Sprint reviews The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Basic Qualifications: This requisition may be filled at either a Software Test Engineer or a Principal Software Test Engineer level. Basic Qualifications for a Software Test Engineer are: Bachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 0 years of related experience. Proficiency in C++ Experience with Git/GitLab Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS Experience with testing sophisticated software within Agile or SAFe. Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start. Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Test Engineer are: Bachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD. Proficiency in C++ Experience with Git/GitLab Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS Experience with testing sophisticated software within Agile or SAFe. Experience programming network connections (message generation, formatting, UDP and TCP/IP interfaces) Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with automation or analysis Agile Scrum Experience with Java and user interfaces Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool Multi-core and multi-threaded programming Familiarity with MDA Sensors and missile defense systems Current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance. Salary Range: $83,300 - $124,900 Salary Range 2: $102,400 - $153,600 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
