Project Description: Position Summary/Job Description: As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside industry experts in shaping the roadmap of online shopping experiences such as such, product listing page. You will play a key role in extracting valuable insights from diverse datasets to enhance search recall and ranking algorithms and models. This position involves working closely with Applied Machine Learning (AML) and product teams to translate data-driven findings into actionable recommendations. Your work will unleash the next generation of customer experiences and transform the way Best Buy operates day-to-day. Seeking candidates who will enjoy: Employ advanced data mining techniques to extract meaningful insights from large datasets stored in GCP and other repositories. Analyze search-related data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimization. Collaborate with the engineering team to enhance search recall and ranking algorithms. Propose modifications and improvements based on data-driven insights. Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness of search algorithms and models. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide recommendations for improvement. Work closely with AML and product teams to understand business goals and objectives. Collaborate on the integration of data insights into product development and AML strategies. Effectively communicate complex findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Create comprehensive reports and presentations to convey insights and proposed optimizations. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in data science and search algorithms. Implement best practices and incorporate new methodologies into the data mining process. Skills Overview: Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related) or equivalent experience 3 years of experience with database languages (SQL, PL/SQL, PG-PL/SQL), version control (Git), data structures and algorithms 3 years of experience in writing production quality software in Python; knowledge of Unit testing in Python, Mocking, Pytest. Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially GCP. Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen analytical mindset. Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across diverse teams. Analyze fraud data and create models to predict fraud hands-on data scientist that can develop models in R/Python, leveraging Google Cloud Platform and associated tools to utilize data lake in GCP Create products that can be run through the Machine Learning Lifecycle. Fine tune the model performance with reinforced learning Operate independently and communicate/collaborate across team What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for? Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Operations Research or related). 4 years of experience in using Python and SQL in production quality projects. Ability to influence stakeholders and contribute to the team roadmap with the goal of increasing adoption of ML in the enterprise. Prior experience in eCommerce and collaborating with product teams.
