GDT is looking for a Wireless LAN Engineer with WLAN implementation Experience As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions supporting our Infrastructure Professional Services located in Dallas, TX, or a virtual office environment. GDT is investing in wireless, smart office technologies and mobility technologies like WiFi, Private LTE, Private 5G, Blue Tooth,. Our leadership has a fantastic partner relationship with major vendors including Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Juniper/Mist, Celona, Highway9, Nokia and have direct access to partner SE's for each that maintain a regular cadence. Therefore, we get a first look on new product releases and what is going to be released in the future. GDT also maintains advanced training and demonstration labs to self-train, demonstrate, and test pre-implementation solutions Join our team and be a part of our IT transformation. Your impact as a Wireless LAN Engineer Responsibilities Include (not limited to): Plan, design, implement and maintain wireless networks to meet the business needs of a large enterprise. Develop and recommend solutions to enhance system performance and stability. Host design discovery meeting and consultation workshops to identify and document client WLAN goals and requirements. Build Low Level Design Documentation to track configuration elements necessary to successfully configure and deploy networks. Provide installation instructions and best practices for peer installation teams. Configure, turn up, Test, and Troubleshoot Advanced WLAN architectures. Configure and turn up multiple forms of WLAN Authentication (Guest Splash Page, Passphrase, 802.1x). Perform system upgrades for WLAN controllers, access points, and management platforms including code and hardware upgrades and equipment moves. Design, configure, and turn up Wireless guest access with anchor controllers Implement and manage rogue detection and containment, and other security requirements as recommended by information security leadership. Build out and manage centralized management platform (Cisco DNA Center, Aruba Central, Mist Dashboard, Meraki Dashboard) and add all sites and equipment. Establish and manage monitoring, alerting, and visual dashboards. Find ways to fine-tune existing wireless networks by building and adjusting AP groups, RF settings, WLAN Settings, band steering and adjusting/changing areas of the network to provide optimal wireless solutions to the end-user population. Write scripts to resolve support issues or automate infrastructure deployment and collect metrics. Work with third party vendors and assist with equipment configuration, placement and provide suggestions for optimal equipment performance. Work with internal groups to implement new sites including network security, end-users, and other interested parties. Document every new and existing site with network diagrams, management IP addresses, hardware lists, backup running-configuration and other information needed to troubleshoot any wireless issue. Proficient in advanced Radio Frequency (RF) architectures (real time applications, real time location services (RTLS), High Density) Provide leadership, support, and guidance to installation teams, RF Survey teams for assigned projects. Perform spectrum analysis of existing installations and recommend and implement needed changes based on recommended service levels and equipment load. Recommend and develop best practices for new locations. Analyze existing architecture and implementation and make recommendations and changes needed to support VOIP and other real time applications. Cross-train other members of the network team and provide documentation so that any member of the group can support and troubleshoot wireless network issues. Experience with advanced integration and automation via API's (Postman, Python, etc). You Bring Knowledge and Expertise Required Experience: 5 years of experience with Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Mistinfrastructure in large scale global deployments. 5 years of experience with 802.1x, RADIUS, EAP-TLS WLAN standards. 5 years of experience with TCP/IP internals and the ability to analyze packet captures. 2 years of experience with Ekahau, AirMagnet or other site survey software. 3 years of experience with LAN/WAN technologies, MPLS, IPsec, VPN, BGP and OSPFRF Design, RF Survey/Engineering and RF troubleshooting skills. Thorough understanding of wireless authentication, security, and network management. Experience designing and deploying key wireless applications including mobility, VOIP, location-based services, and guest wireless. Knowledge of Cisco and/or Aruba series mobility controllers and all types of access points including autonomous, AP cluster (Cisco EWC/Aruba IAP), Controller based. Ability to use tools to generate heat maps to provide optimal AP placement to produce wireless signal coverage and meet client requirements. Private LTE/Private 5G design and deployment experience is a plus Preferred Experience: Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP), Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA-wireless), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP -wireless), or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE-wireless) Certified Wireless Network Professional Level certification (CWNA, CWDP, CWAP, CWSP, CWNE) Meraki (CMNA, ECMS1, ECMS2) Juniper (JMCIA-Mist Associate, JMCIS-Mist AI Specialist) GDT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER.
