RCOE provides administrative support to districts, leads programs for preschool, special education, pregnant minor, corrections, migrant, and vocational students, and offers professional training, support and resources for teachers, administrators, and staff throughout Riverside County. www.rcoe.us Job Summary POSITION DESCRIPTION: The purpose of Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS), Special Education is to provide evaluation, modeling, and training to staff and parents on the full continuum of assistive technology support. Under the direction of the Executive Director, Special Education or Administrator, the ATS responds to RCOE and district Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team referrals, develops RCOE and district assistive technology support teams including teacher(s), parents, and support staff, and conducting team-based assistive technology assessments. In addition, the ATS completes research and the development of assistive technology-related instructional programs and device recommendations as well as assists other educational staff in preparing assistive technology-related goals and objectives. The ATS conducts ongoing training with parents and staff and provides continuous consultation to support the successful implementation of assistive technology. Requirements / Qualifications EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one (1) year experience teaching special education required. Experience conducting assistive technology assessment and services within a public K-12 school district preferred. EDUCATION: A Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from an accredited College/University required. A Master's Degree preferred. CERTIFICATES/CREDENTIALS/LICENSES Possession of a valid Clear California Education Specialist Mild/Moderate and/or Moderate/Severe Credential Possession of a valid Certificate from the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America and Assistive Technology Provider (RESNA/ATP) or Certificate in Assistive Technology applications issued by a regionally accredited post-secondary institution Possession of a valid California State License from California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT) or a valid California Credential authorizing Speech Therapy License for public schools preferred Valid California Driver's License Required Documents: A complete application must meet the criteria listed below and must have the following documentation attached to your online EdJoin application prior to the position closing date/time: Incomplete or inaccurate applications WILL NOT be considered.
