CGS strives to deliver reliable gas supplies while minimizing costs to our customers. Our performance is measured through the Core Procurement Incentive Mechanism (CPIM) incentive ratemaking program which compares actual portfolio costs against a set of independent industry benchmarks. CGS is an exciting and fast-paced organization that offers many learning opportunities through exposure to the regulatory approval process, asset acquisition, trading, portfolio planning and analytics, risk and compliance, and reporting. Renewable natural gas is a new addition to our portfolio.The Gas Portfolio Management and Analysis team is responsible for using various analysis techniques and models to support (1) asset acquisition and commodity trading optimization, (2) measuring actual performance relative to CPIM benchmark; (3) preparing metric and compliance reports, and (4) forecasting loads and costs.Position SummaryThe Analyst position will participate in efforts providing technical and commercial guidance based on analytical outcomes for the $1.5B natural gas commodity, storage, and transportation portfolio. The successful candidate will focus on developing a strong understanding the portfolio's cost models, and leverage output to prepare portfolio plans to guide strategies to optimize performance. This position will submit cyclical reports on gas load forecast and actual usage, trade data, and asset costs for ratemaking, compliance, and business finance reporting, as well as improve data access and building new tools as part of ongoing continuous improvement for robust analytics and recommendations.This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.Although we estimatethe successful candidate hiredinto this rolewill beplaced between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decisionwill be made on a case-by-casebasis related tothese factors.This job is also eligible to participate inPG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.A reasonable salary range is:Bay Area Minimum: $90,000Bay Area Maximum: $136,000Job ResponsibilitiesSupport team overseeing CGS's $400M/year storage and transport portfolio. Contribute to scenario, utilization, least cost, regression, and solicitation offer analysis while accounting for reliability and regulatory constraints for new asset products due to expiring contracts, changing market conditions, and regulatory rate cycles and mandates.Validate and develop ability to prepare inputs for CPIM model for reporting on the portfolio's performance forecast relative to benchmark.Validate and prepare inputs for portfolio optimization option models that analyze gas storage and transportation scenarios and spread option models to compare solicitation offers. Develop ability to analyze output, identify most reliable and cost-effective scenarios, and recommend portfolio changes and best offers to management and regulators.Develop understanding of complex Excel workbook tools that track physical and financial open positions to support Trading function.Collaborate with traders to expand tools and improve graphics in response to changing business and market needs.Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Accounting, Banking, Rates, and EPP metric reporting.Perform basic routine and ad hoc analysis, and present results using effective graphics and methods to gain consensus from team. Prepare concise and informative written communications discussing analysis or responses to data requests.QualificationsMinimum:Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or Finance; or four years equivalent experienceOne year of relevant experience in data analytics and statisticsDesired:Natural gas or electric portfolio or utility experienceDemonstrated use of scenario, least cost or regression analysisDemonstrated technical skills such as automation, pivot tables, macros, charting, and advanced formulas.Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environmentExperience with data models and design, including Monte Carlo simulationExperience with OpenLink Endur, Visio, SQLDemonstrated Continuous Improvement experience and mindset#featuredjob
