ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY IT Technician - Auxiliary ABOUT THIS POSITION Summary: Responsible to the Associate Director of Computer Support Services (CSS) for the duties involved in computer technical support. These duties include responding to support requests via the help ticket system, performing assigned projects, and providing remote end user computer support as part of the Information Technology Help Desk. Projects and requests will include, but not be limited to, computer setup and configuration, hardware & software troubleshooting, following inventory procedures, end user training, communication with vendors for product research and support, and documentation/update of support procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install computers and computer peripherals in computer labs, classrooms, and faculty and staff offices by performing job assignments, responding to service calls, diagnosing problems, ordering necessary replacement hardware, completing repairs, tracking work orders, and following up on client satisfaction. Provide in-person and remote end user computer support as part of the IT help desk, including answering help desk calls and instant messages. Assist end users in navigation and operational issues regarding computer software applications. Provide formal and informal instruction for groups and individuals. Assist customers with software problems and installations remotely or in person, including performing computer OS and software updates on university-owned computers. Participate in training student workers in the proper technical procedures for diagnosing and repairing computers and computer peripherals, software support and appropriate customer relation practices by providing individual and group instruction, and by providing feedback to students and the CSS Coordinator. Update campus computer hardware in a timely manner as projects and hardware refresh assignments are completed. Participate in the campus hardware refresh program and image computers as required. Prepare and maintain appropriate written documentation for support procedures, help desk tickets, and asset records. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues. Support classroom audiovisual equipment and assist instructors with the use of audiovisual classroom systems. Minimum Qualifications Required: An associate degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 2 years of experience in desktop support. Experience with PC hardware and maintenance, software installation, troubleshooting and repair. Ability to interact with a wide variety of users and provide excellent customer service. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Apple computer hardware, maintenance, software installation, troubleshooting and repair. CompTIA A Certification. Experience working in an academic environment. Salary: $48,000.00 - 51,800.00. Commensurate with education and experience.
