Meat Wrapper
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and efficient Meat Wrapper to join our team in the retail grocery meat department. The Meat Wrapper is responsible for properly handling, wrapping, and packaging various cuts of meat, poultry, and seafood products while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wrap and package fresh meat, poultry, and seafood products using appropriate wrapping materials and techniques
- Ensure accurate labeling of packaged meats, including product information, weights, prices, and expiration dates
- Maintain an attractive and well-stocked display case by arranging and rotating wrapped meat products
- Assist meat cutters and clerks with trimming, cutting, and preparing meat items as needed
- Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and tools according to food safety regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the meat department manager to ensure adequate stock
- Adhere to strict food handling and safety guidelines, including proper temperature control and storage procedures
- Operate and maintain wrapping and packaging equipment, such as wrapping machines, scales, and vacuum sealers
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of the meat department
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience in a retail grocery meat department or food service environment is preferred
- Knowledge of meat handling, wrapping techniques, and food safety regulations
- Attention to detail and ability to follow wrapping and labeling procedures accurately
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and ability to lift moderate weights
- Good dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise wrapping and packaging tasks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
