Description
The Perinatal clinical specialist (CNS) is responsible and accountable for the development and maintenance of patient care programs with the maternal newborn specialty. Functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, consultant, case manager, and researcher. This includes monitoring clinical care of patients and providing clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. [Job title] will act as a role-model, patient advocate, change agent, leader and cost-effective clinician. Ultimately improving quality of care and services provided at Iredell Health System - The Birthplace through assessment to improve performance and outcomes. This position will assist in evaluation, analysis, maintenance and development of system functionality to meet clinical objectives including participating in project development and implementation. Responsible for data integrity and follows well defined processes for maintaining data integrity. Serves as an expert regarding DNV, NC Department of Social Services/Health Department, and other specific regulatory requirements and serves in an active role to achieve compliance standards. Engages with NC state initiatives and partners with organizations such as the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of NC.
Requirements
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required from an accredited institutionCurrent Board of NC licenseDoctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred5 years of experience specifically maternal-newborn nursing minimumExperience with quality improvement or case management, preferredPreferred certification requirements: Inpatient obstetrics (C-OB), electronic fetal monitoring (C-EFM), and obstetrical and neonatal quality and safety (C-ONQS)Preferred memberships: AWHONN, NCPA, PQCNCBasic Life Support required through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Essential Physical Responsibilities
Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
