By maintaining strong asset quality and minimizing credit losses, this team plays a crucial role in supporting the bank's overall objectives.
Job Description
The
Special Assets II
position has a primary responsibility for management of troubled commercial loans, to better secure with collateral, equity, or other assets of the borrower, and other activities designed to preserve the loan principal, gather interest as possible, and prevent the loan from being charged off. Includes negotiation of payment structures with the customers to ensure repayment of loans, initiates litigation when necessary, inspects properties, and market properties for sale. Additionally, this position may handle other Credit Administrative responsibilities that serve to aid various lines of business.

How You'll Spend Your Time
You will monitor loan repayment schedules, contact customers with overdue payments, and ensure collection through various communication methods.You will negotiate loan repayment terms with customers and associated parties to secure additional equity or limit bank losses.You will oversee an early warning system for a loan portfolio, implement workflow changes to improve performance, and communicate with administration.You will determine the need for litigation, manage ongoing cases, testify in proceedings, and handle bank-owned assets, including marketing real estate for maximum sales proceeds.You will coordinate with various officials to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage office administration tasks, and track real estate taxes and environmental policy compliance.Education & Experience Requirements
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of experience in special assets management.
Excellent and understanding of business lending procedures and common errors encounteredThorough knowledge of loan documentation and perfection requirementsExcellent knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresExcellent PC skillsExcellent knowledge of the litigation process under county, state, and federal systemsExcellent ability to negotiate in both cooperative and hostile environments
