Description General Responsibilities: The Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) Engineer will be part of the Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) Group and will work directly with the software design team to support the software development lifecycle. The engineer will review the software requirements, monitor/track all software validation efforts to ensure they are completed correctly and on time, and execute the SWQA process to guarantee all released software adheres to the proper development aspects. The engineer shall exercise proper version control on all work products including plans, specifications, reports, audits, etc. The primary role of the Software Quality Assurance Engineer is to plan, execute, and document software testing activities for both production software and in-house test applications. This person is responsible for applying the principles and practices of software quality assurance throughout the software development life cycle. A software quality assurance (QA) engineer monitors every phase of the development process to ensure that the design and software adhere to company standards. Software delays are costly for a company, so it's vital for releases to meet target dates and stay within budget. A software quality assurance engineer helps meet deadlines by breaking up the development process into attainable testing goals and relaying any issues back to the development teams or leaders. Job Responsibilities: Software QA Engineering performs quality assurance activities related to product and product development processes, quality assurance processes, and supplier quality. It compiles quality information and proposes and implements quality-related improvements to improve the competitiveness of the organization. In addition, they play a role in the planning and implementation of quality assurance methods and strategies in the short, medium and long term. Conduct quality assurance activities to meet customer quality requirements and to further improve the quality of software development projects. The role includes the following (other duties may be documented and assigned by local management and some duties may not apply dependent upon the requirements of the position at each specific (HIAMS)AM site and/or the strengths of the employee and the needs of the company): Monitor and communicate the overall validation project status to project stakeholders. Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback Perform and document risk analysis Audit all aspects of the SDLC and usage of ALM tool sets. Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and project leaders) to identify system requirements Managing meetings & group processes to: (1) enhance the group's ability to solve problems (2) ensure that the group makes high quality decisions (3) generate commitment (4) address conflicts productively Monitor debugging process results Performs frequent reviews on quality system for compliance with stated requirements Prepares reports summarizing quality status of the various development processes Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts Stay up-to-date with new tools and test strategies Coaches others on how work related/interact and how their work contributes to achieve high quality standards. Helps prioritize short-term activities around work team / functional priorities. Effectively solicits and shares complex information within and across work teams, stating own point of view when difficult. Qualifications: The Ideal candidate will: Proven work experience in software quality assurance Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes Hands-on experience with automated testing tools Keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence Be willing to help your teammates, share your knowledge with them, and learn from them Knowledge of software development processes using CMMI, Automotive SPICE, TS16949, and ISO26262 will be required. Ability to prioritize tasks and work concurrently on multiple tasks Superior time management skills Strong problem solving/analytical abitilites Good understanding of the automotive development process. Have experience with electronic control systems. Have experience with design specifications and detailed software documentation. Experience interfacing with customers. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools and Lotus Notes are also required. Ability to work independently with minimal direction Education: Bachelors degree in Quality Engineering. Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical area. Experience: Minimum of 1-5 years experience Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities. Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Working conditions: Physical Demands: Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. The candidate will occasionally need to travel to multiple global locations to support project development.
