Description
The Embark Internship Program contributes to the spiritual, personal and professional development of the student. As anAssistant Magazine Editor Embark Intern the student will participate in the process of communicating Answers in Genesis' core message throughAnswersmagazine (the award-winning quarterly magazine) andKids Answers(the quarterly children's magazine).
Under the magazine editor in chief, the assistant magazine editor intern will assist in brainstorming ideas, researching, writing, and editing to ensure publication quality and accuracy consistent with Answers in Genesis standards. If your career goals include learning the publication process, receiving editorial mentorship, and collaborating with a creative team to produce engaging apologetics content, this short-term internship offers an exciting opportunity to grow professionally while growing spiritually as well.
The intern will positively influence others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference.The intern should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion.

ResponsibilitiesPromote the mission and standards of Answers in GenesisCreate a SERVE culture environment in all work doneApproach all tasks with a second-mile mindsetParticipate in life skills development courses provided for Embark InternsParticipate in Learning & Development apologetics trainingServe in the attraction operation departments to display our SERVE core valuePrioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignmentsPlan content and write copy
Work with the editor in chief to plan magazine contentResearch and write magazine articles
Edit content as needed and meet all associated deadlinesCarry out all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by managementQualifications
Requirements
A strong understanding of and support for the core beliefs and messaging of Answers in GenesisExcellent editing and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent writing skillsAbility to effectively balance multiple projects and strict deadlinesAbility and willingness to carry out editorial mandatesCreativity to generate new ideas for future issues and articlesCompetence with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and InCopy a plusAbility to give and receive criticism with a graceful spiritMust be able to perform duties at AiG offices (not a remote position)Must agree with and sign the AiG Statement of FaithMaintains a personal relationship with Jesus ChristRegularly attends a local Bible-believing churchEditorial assessment test to be administered by the hiring managerEducation & Experience
Currently earning or have earned a BA in English, journalism, or related fieldMust have a minimum of 45 college creditsStrong interest in science and Bible topicsItems Needed for Possible Employment
