Informal Systems

Informal Systems was founded with a mission to foster trust in software and monetary systems. Our team spent years building state-of-the-art distributed systems and grappling with complexities and limitations. Despite securing billions of dollars in real-world value, these systems were fundamentally flawed—complex and error-prone. We believed we could do better and create an environment where people could fully trust the systems they build and depend on. This vision led to the creation of Informal, a company specializing in the security of interoperable, fault-tolerant networks.

We believe that trust between people and protocols can thrive when backed by the right tools and systems. Informal assembled a team of world-class experts in protocol design, formal verification, and Rust. Today, we help other teams instill trust in their software and systems by applying the same rigorous standards we hold ourselves to.

At Informal, we’ve built our company on the same principles of sustainability, security, and correctness that define our work. To ensure these values shape our organization, we structured Informal as a workers' cooperative. With a "one member, one vote" model, everyone has an equal say, ensuring that no single group or individual controls the company.

Informal Staking

Our mission at Informal Staking (a division of Informal Systems) is to be a premier operator of decentralized network systems as we usher in a new age of open financial technologies. We are a leading operator of staking nodes and interchain infrastructure services operating on many of the leading Web3 projects and contributing to the most anticipated up-and-coming networks. We’ve been validating the Cosmos Hub since genesis and have been running IBC relayers as long as they’ve existed. We run on bare-metal servers and cloud in 6 continents and have a strong commitment to security and best practices.
