Through innovative research, patient care, education and community engagement, Massey is discovering, developing, delivering and teaching effective means to prevent, detect, treat and cure cancer and to making these advancements equally available to all. Founded in 1974, Massey was among the earliest cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). It is the only cancer center in the Richmond metropolitan region and one of only two NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the state, placing it among the top 4 percent of cancer centers in the country.
Position Overview:
The
Office of Faculty Recruitment
supports the Administrative Core of the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer by leading initiatives to promote the hiring and retention of outstanding and diverse faculty members.
The Faculty Recruiter will be responsible for full life cycle recruitment of physician and research scientists, who have academic appointments in VCU Medical Schools, and will report to the Director of Faculty Recruitment. The incumbent will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of all activities related to recruitment, will advise and collaborate with senior leadership and program leads within Massey, VCU, and other schools as needed with regard to physician/research recruitment, budgetary compliance, diversity, and overall recruitment strategies. The recruiter will serve as primary interface with outside individuals, prospective candidates and their families, recruiting firms and other agencies on behalf of the University.
The Faculty Recruiter plays a pivotal role in the seamless coordination of virtual and/or on-campus interview/visits, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for prospective recruits.
**An on-site/hybrid work schedule is required in the Richmond, VA Massey locations.
Job Responsibilities include:
Candidate Recruitment:
•Partner with the Director of Faculty Recruiting, administrative core and cancer center leadership to understand immediate and future faculty staffing needs
•Utilize direct sourcing, networking and research techniques to identify qualified candidates
•Engage in recruitment marketing and sourcing activities that include DEI outreach and partnership building to ensure diverse candidate pools
•Ensure recruitment database and activity is updated real-time, to include report generation as needed.
Candidate Experience:
•Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty candidates scheduled for virtual and on-campus interviews, ensuring their needs and inquiries are promptly addressed.
•Provide a high touch personalized experience to all visiting candidates. Exs: leading and/or coordinating local tours to showcase the center's amenities and the surrounding area; on-call availability to address needs as they arise; escorting candidates to meetings, hosting seminars and tours, ensure they are oriented and guided safely around campus.
•Collaborate with faculty hosts to fulfill any additional requests to enhance the candidates' visit experience.
Logistical Support:
•Attend and support recruitment events as needed.
•Arrange transportation and accommodation services for visiting candidates (ground transport, airport/train reservations, lodging, meals, special events, etc.)
•Successful completion of VCU's online driving module and ability to use the Massey designated vehicle for recruitment visits and tours.
•Provide relocation guidance and assistance, to include realtor and/or housing coordination as necessary.
Materials Management:
•Maintain an organized inventory of recruitment materials, collaborating with different departments to ensure a consistent supply of Massey branded materials.
•Order and prepare any necessary materials needed for recruitment presentations, interviews, and tours.
Financial Management:
•Process all relevant reimbursements associated with faculty recruitment visits, meticulously following financial procedures and guidelines.
•Ensure accurate allocation of expenses to appropriate accounts and adherence to recruitment expense policies.
Training :
•Complete all required VCU and Massey training modules promptly upon joining.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 3 years' experience in physician or academic research recruitment and/or executive search. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent training/experience. Experienced in full-life cycle recruiting and hiring practices (sourcing, screening, interview, assessment, offer and onboarding) Strong interpersonal and communication skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with candidates, faculty hosts, and vendors. Displays remarkable discernment and discretion while handling confidential and sensitive issues and information. Strong time management, organizational, and listening skills; efficient follow up and responsiveness. Proficiency in using productivity software and tools, including scheduling platforms, email, and Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated experience fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and an expressed commitment to do so while at Massey and VCU. Valid driver's license. Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in health care administration, human resources, public or business administration, or health care administration or closely related field required, or equivalent in training/experience Work within an NCI designated cancer center and or Academic Healthcare environment 8 or more years in professional recruitment, to include a variety of niche skill areas.
