Job Description JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Engagement Strategy, VP understands how to acquire and grow accounts by consistently delivering successful engagement strategy projects. They have a solid grasp of engagement strategy deliverables and can direct the process on accounts, as well as new business pitches. They have robust experience collaborating with all internal team members (brand planning, account, media, analytics, creative and project management) as well as equally adept at presenting to clients.

They are seen as a leader within the department and a rising leader within the agency. They consistently influence others on their own team to do the right thing for the brand, the department, and the agency. They advocate for the department cross-functionally with other departments and manage and mentor direct and indirect reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Creates and facilitates a variety of proprietary workshops based on the clients’ business needs, often including a cross-functional team consisting of clients, 3rd party partners, and agency experts.

Develops the full gamut of engagement deliverables or delegates the work to junior engagement strategists.

Manages junior engagement strategists who directly report to this role or from the teams; participates in agency initiatives; develops or leads projects for the department.

Leads projects on accounts and is integral in executing projects; collaborates with senior account people on proper allocation of engagement resources on accounts.

Leads tactical planning process for accounts and manages the outputs. Works with manager to ensure engagement is properly resourced for the following year.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees entire assigned accounts with respect to engagement deliverables, working with larger brand teams at key strategic junctures to examine the current engagement strategy and provide recommendations for the future (e.g., tactical planning); ensure the quality of the strategic and creative products the team produces.

Manages junior-level engagement strategists and is responsible for career development.

Interfaces independently with senior clients and with Account leadership on in-line brands as well as new business opportunities.

On new business pitches, maintains ownership over all engagement strategy deliverables and is responsible for presenting these deliverables in the pitch presentation.

Develops and maintains positive collaborative relationships with account management, strategic planning, media, creative counterparts, and senior marketing clients.

Able to synthesize a variety of insights into actionable plans to drive brand goals.

Marries strategic and creative aptitude to create meaningful, memorable, and measurably impactful engagement strategies for health/wellness space.

Provides insights into the value and limitations of both on and offline channels.

Evangelizes engagement strategy’s value and directs accounts on engagement opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and great comfort with quickly building PowerPoint decks, including ones with complex stories shown simply – and collaborating with multiple partners to do so.

Highly effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint with multiple years’ experience doing so.

Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting in high-pressure situations.

Must be a good active listener, with a collaborative working style.

Great fluency with using Brainstorming software such as Stormz, Miro, and/or Mural.

Ability to independently run workshops in Zoom, Stormz, Miro, and/or other online collaboration platforms preferred, and to train others how to do so as well.

COMPETENCIES

As a leader of multiple accounts, a Director, Engagement Strategy, VP must be able to influence others across all agencies. Tact and relationship building are crucial to developing this influence, and a strong candidate should be able to demonstrate past experiences in which they have influenced a team to make the right decision.

A Director, Engagement Strategy, VP must balance shifting responsibilities as they manage and review work by junior staff while still maintaining the quality of their own deliverables. An ability to prioritize and be flexible is crucial here to ensure that both management and day-to-day work is balanced.

SALARY

$160,000 to $230,000 annually

The salary range for this position is noted within this job posting. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
