The Team:
We're an early stage team at X with a growing, interdisciplinary portfolio. To prove our path to the moon, we make early contact with the real world through both internal and external partnerships.
The Role:
Our engineers and scientists help projects run better experiments faster. They co-found projects, provide technical leadership, execute experiments and provide advisory support. As a member of the team, you have a deep passion for problem solving and experimentation. Our engineers often also have a deep domain expertise in fields like physics, computer science, biology, cognitive science. You will be responsible for taking early stage investigations from an idea stage to first prototypes to a full-blown projects. You’ll be rapidly iterating through a set of prototypes to evaluate possible technology directions.
This is an extremely dynamic role and requires high cross-functional communication, organization, and planning. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and has a track record of effectively operating in a dynamic loosely structured environment (e.g. startup, new product within Google). The candidate will work on multiple projects/investigations.
How you will make 10x impact:
Explore novel approaches combining ML and structured models
Rapidly develop prototypes to evaluate feasibility
Organize and process large volumes of data
Work cross-functionally with experts at X and Google (e.g. GDM, Research, etc.) to apply, modify, and develop new algorithms and software tools as the project demands
Build infrastructure for code analysis, visualization and annotation
What you should have:
5 years industry experience as a fast learner and a code writing machine (preferably in multiple programming languages)
Experience with data analytics / ML modeling
Solid software engineering skills and passionate about SWE productivity
BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent field
Ability to work in a small team / rapid prototyping environment and deal with uncertainty and fluidity
It’d be great if you also had these:
Familiarity with data analytics / ML modeling
Applied machine learning experiences with sequence/graph prediction and reinforcement learning
Aptitude in TensorFlow
Experience working in a startup environment
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000 - $250,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
