AWS S3 Glacier Finance seeks a world class Senior Financial Analyst to be part of the Capacity and Efficiency team of a high-growth AWS service. This role relies on financial analyses to support decisions related to the capacity needed to deliver the service successfully. You will also contribute to improving infrastructure efficiency through deep financial analysis into cost, usage patterns and alternative technologies. To influence business strategy, you will work directly with key business leaders and provide insightful analysis.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting Service P&Ls and influence business decisions that drive revenue and/or capital expenditures
Driving financial analyses; building complex financial models and analytical tools to support review of Glacier's storage efficiency, costs and capacity
Developing short and long range financial / operational forecasts of Glacier's storage footprint
Developing, tracking, and reporting relevant KPIs to provide financial and operational insights into the cost and economics of the business, and influencing business decisions using data and communication skills
Supporting cost optimization projects by diving deep into financial systems and working with Technical Program Managers, and Engineers to understand Glacier's costs, key drivers, and effects of technology transitions
Identifying and quantifying financial / operational Risks and Opportunities (R&O) to the business
Driving ad hoc financial analyses and projects
The successful candidate will provide strong finance support and controllership for Glacier's costs, implement and drive the core financial processes for the business including Annual Operating Plans.
This role requires a self-starter with a strong financial modeling background, problem solving skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with ambiguous situations, and solid skills in project management. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires strong people skills.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics or business, or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
3+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience
3+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
MBA, or CPA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
