SENIOR MANAGER, CONSTRUCTION (PUBLIC ART PROJECT DELIVERY)

Manages, oversees, and coordinates timely construction of rail and bus facilities projects from start to finish and within approved budgets. This Senior Manager, Construction (Public Art Project Delivery) will manage percent for art program design integration, engineering and construction project delivery for bus and/or rail facilities projects.
Manages, drives, and monitors rail and bus facilities construction projects, including developing workplans, schedules, cost estimates, and specificationsOversees the work of construction management consultants and/or acts as Resident Engineer supervising construction Inspectors, Construction Engineer, and administrative supportMonitors work for compliance with schedule, budget, technical, safety, and legal requirementsCollaborates with contractors, specialists, and lead agenciesReports on work progress and budget to senior managementMonitors compliance with the contractManages assigned Metro staffHas budget accountability for an area of responsibilityReviews contract documents and assists with bid forms, pre-bid conferences, proposal evaluations and recommendations, and negotiations with consultants and contractorsCoordinates activities/operations with other Metro staff and public agenciesResolves design and field construction problemsAttends progress meetings and reports on contract statusExpedites design and field changes; negotiates change ordersReviews contractors' requests for change and, if appropriate, prepares contract change notices with appropriate justificationAdvises on content of operations and maintenance manualsRecommends policy/procedure improvementsMonitors claims and suggests ways to minimizeCoordinates work schedules around special eventsMonitors field implementation of pollution controls for dust, noise, and vibrationMonitors parcel acquisition to ensure availability before constructionConducts site audits and testingCommunicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employeesContributes to ensuring that the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies and programs of Metro are carried outMay be required to perform other related job duties.A combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field
Experience
Six years of relevant experience or three years of relevant supervisory-level experience in the management of construction contracts; experience in tunneling, aerial structures, underground structures, ballasted trackwork, highways, and highway bridges preferred
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functionsState of California registration as a Professional Engineer or Architect preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing the design, integration, engineering, and construction of large-scale, complex public art projectsExperience reviewing and guiding the integration of artwork and design in construction drawings, specifications, fabrication shop drawings, and installation plansExperience managing employees and consultants (i.e., artists, designers, fabricators, or contractors)Experience leading public sector artist procurement and arts/design outreach, engaging diverse community stakeholders
