Description Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, youll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. In exchange, AWS can terminate individual instances with a 2-minute notification. Spot allows AWS to monetize unused, spare compute capacity, shaping demand and leading to increased utilization and profitability. Our customer base range from college students to large tech companies. EC2 Spot team directly influences customer experience through public AWS APIs and Open source integrations. We manage capacity, allocation strategies and dynamic pricing, which are backed by prediction algorithms. As an EC2 engineer, you will be designing and implementing software solutions for complex engineering problems. Your work will maintain high standards of quality and performance to meet the availability, security and durability that AWS customers expect. You will work closely with business stakeholders to refine product definition and customer experience. As an EC2 Spot team engineer, you are expected to collaborate with other engineers and AWS teams, plan, execute and deliver on roadmap projects. You will efficiently operate a high-throughput, large-scale distributed system that supports tens of thousands of AWS customers and drive operational excellence by making operational improvements. You should demonstrate strong teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills to both business and technical audience. A day in the life An SDE will spend their days designing, coding, testing and documenting. Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input. They will attend regular status meetings, design reviews and resolve discordant views within and outside of the team. During operational shift, engineer in this role will lead operations reviews, respond to degraded customer experience and track down problems and provide appropriate solutions. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
