The Perinatal Sonographer is responsible for performing low and high-risk obstetrics (OB) ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. The Perinatal Sonographer should have special interest and expertise in prenatal diagnosis and OB ultrasound with the ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as indicated (i.e. Doppler, 3D). The Perinatal Sonographer may be responsible for limited gynecologic ultrasounds.

Performs diagnostic obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound procedures, including: first trimester fetal anatomic assessment (including nuchal translucency and nasal bone assessment), evaluation of pregnant uterus for abnormalities, evaluation of the ovaries and adnexa, detailed fetal anatomic survey and detailed evaluation of the placenta and umbilical cord, fetal echocardiography (preferred), ultrasound guidance of amniocentesis (preferred), fetal doppler studies, amniotic fluid index (AFI), transvaginal ultrasounds including appropriate evaluation of the cervical length, biophysical profile (BPP), evaluation of fetal growth and follow-up of fetal anomalies, detailed evaluation of twin and other higher order multiple gestation including determining chronicity. Gynecologic ultrasounds could include ultrasound guidance of intrauterine device (IUD) placement or removal, transvaginal ultrasound evaluation of the uterus, ovaries and adnexa, pelvic vessels and cul-de-sac (preferred) and other procedures as medically indicated.Selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, which may include 2D, 3D and 4D imaging, color and spectral doppler, color mapping, M-mode and other imaging modalities. Utilizes non-standard techniques, when necessary, with independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the performance of ultrasonography for diagnosis.Obtains relevant history via electronic medical record (EMR) images according to protocol, review cases with the care team, and generates preliminary reports using structured reporting software.Calibrates, adjusts, and maintains ultrasound equipment. Notifies leadership when equipment failures occur.Recognizes and troubleshoots various imaging issues.Assists in the clinical instruction of new hires, OB/GYN residents, and medical students.Maintains regular and predictable attendance.Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Program.Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS).Nuchal Translucency & Nasal Bone Certification.Recent relevant clinical experience in an OB or maternal fetal medicine (MFM) ultrasound setting.Current CPR Certification.High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
