As the Director, International Tax, you will play a critical role and work directly with the Vice President, International Tax, and other members of the Tax Department on US international provision and compliance computations, Pillar 2 modeling, international tax planning, and other special projects. You will be driven, and eager to find and share innovative ideas, and able to work 3 days per week at our Franklin Lakes, NJ campus. The role was vacated by a retiring team member, and we are looking for the right person to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Lead the quarterly and year-end Pillar 2 computations for the Company, including the application of the Pillar 2 safe harbor rules, computation of GloBE Income and ETRs for constituent entities, and top-up taxes, as needed.
Provide support for the quarterly forecasting and year-end provision process; computation of GILTI, Subpart F, BEAT, 163(j), FDII, Foreign Source Income, Foreign Tax Credit Limitation, etc.
Prepare and review significant portions of US international tax compliance obligations (Forms 8858, 5471, 5472, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993, 8832, 8023, 8883, white-paper statements, etc.).
Research technical US international tax issues and participate in M&A projects as needed.
Work directly with the Vice President, International Tax on tax planning initiatives including entity rationalization, business restructurings, third-party and intercompany financing of operations, etc.
Collaborate with the Treasury group and business units on repatriation and redeployment of cash.
Assist in modeling the US international tax impact of proposed tax planning ideas, potential US, and non-US audit settlements, etc.
Identify and implement process improvements.
Assist in coordinating non-US income tax audits and respond to IDRs.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 8 years of international tax experience preferably at a combination of Big 4 accounting firms and large, complex, multinational companies. Medical technology industry experience is a plus.
A bachelor's degree in accounting; Masters in Tax/JD/LLM preferred.
An industrious work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to jump into projects and “run with them.”
An eagerness to help the broader Tax department, including workstreams that might not be strictly within the purview of international tax.
Enthusiasm for learning, collaborating, and knowledge sharing. The ability to manage multiple high-level processes/functions concurrently and to think creatively to address sophisticated planning issues and facilitate solutions.
A mastery of US international tax rules, a thorough knowledge of the US consolidated tax regime, and a foundation in the principles of ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109), US Section 482, and prevalent foreign tax regimes.
A strong working knowledge of the Pillar 2 Model rules and administrative guidance, and the desire to deepen that knowledge.
The ability to research and interpret complex US and non-US tax rules.
The ability to build strong business working relationships with BD finance and business colleagues around the world, including BD executive management, and external advisors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, presentation experience; ability to share and explain complex tax concepts with non-tax colleagues.
A consistent track record in leading and supporting strategic initiatives from inception, planning, and execution to review with external auditors and taxing authorities.
