As a Senior Software Engineer at Outpost, you will be responsible for many aspects of the Outpost software stack, from application layer flight code, GNC integration, embedded systems, all the way to performant Ground Software. You'll collaborate closely with avionics hardware engineers, GNC specialists, and other team members to create efficient and sustainable solutions. This position offers the chance to engage in all aspects of spacecraft development, from system architecture and rapid prototyping to full flight/Earth-Return projects, managing flight hardware during ground tests, and providing mission operations support.Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fieldExperience in developing and debugging firmwareMinimum 4 years of spacecraft software engineering or software development in C++ or a similar languageWork on-site in Santa Monica, CAResponsibilities
The design, development, and testing of our in-house firmware and flight software supporting all Outpost flight systems.Rapid development of high reliability autonomous software for satellite and aerospace systems from application layer to OS, networking, firmware, and simulationSupport hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) setup and testAdditional Skills and Expertise
Experience building or working with fault tolerant software, real-time embedded systems and/or distributed computing systemsExperience with Linux OS, command-line interface tools, Python or other scripting languageWorking knowledge of embedded systems: microcontrollers, ADC/DAC systems, and common communication interfaces (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C, etc)Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, etc.Experience with cloud toolingExperience in a complex system lifecycle including requirements, verification, validation, etcExperience with aerospace and/or RF communication systemsInformation/network security experienceCompensation:
