Job Description
Key Responsibilities:Microsoft Exchange Administration:
Manage and maintain the on-premises Exchange Server and hybrid Exchange environments.Perform regular patching, updates, and upgrades of Exchange Server.Monitor and troubleshoot Exchange services, including email flow, database integrity, and performance.Administer Exchange Online environments within Office 365, ensuring optimal configuration and integration.Perform backup and recovery tasks for the Exchange environment, ensuring data integrity and retention.
Office 365 Administration:
Manage the full Office 365 ecosystem, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other integrated services.Administer and configure user access and permissions, security groups, and distribution lists within Office 365.Implement and manage security policies such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), data loss prevention (DLP), and mobile device management (MDM).Handle license management and usage monitoring for Office 365 subscriptions.
Migration and Upgrades:
Plan, execute, and manage migrations from on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online (Office 365).Assist in upgrading Exchange and Office 365 versions, ensuring minimal impact on business operations.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and external regulations related to email security, data retention, and privacy.Implement email encryption, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and malware protection using tools like Microsoft Defender and Exchange Online Protection.Monitor and respond to potential security incidents or vulnerabilities.
End-User Support and Troubleshooting:
Provide advanced technical support to resolve email and Office 365-related issues.Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mailbox access, email delivery, calendaring, and syncing between devices.Train and guide end-users on how to use Office 365 tools effectively.
Collaboration and Integration:
Collaborate with network, security, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration with other services and applications.Work with external vendors for escalations, support, and troubleshooting, when necessary.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.Provide regular reports on system performance, usage, and security metrics.
Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Exchange Server Administrator (Preferred).Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate or similar certifications.ITIL, CompTIA Network+, or Security+ certifications are a plus.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience managing Microsoft Exchange (on-premises, hybrid, and Exchange Online).Hands-on experience administering Office 365 services and tools.Experience with email migrations from on-prem to cloud environments.Proven experience in troubleshooting complex email and collaboration issues.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in Microsoft Exchange Server (2013, 2016, 2019) and Exchange Online.In-depth knowledge of Office 365 Admin Portal, PowerShell, and scripting for automation.Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure AD, and hybrid identity environments.Knowledge of network protocols (DNS, SMTP, IMAP, etc.) and email security protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive integration and management.
