The Information Technology Services Division, located in the Enterprise Operations Office of The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Systems Administrator for our high security environments. This role will provide systems administration, computing support, and specialized support services for the enablement of key research and administrative functions by ensuring the security, compliance, functionality, and reliability of research and administrative systems through hands on configuration and support. This position will be located in State College, PA (University Park) and is fully onsite.
You will:
Administer secure configuration of various operating system distributionsMonitor, respond, and remediate system and network security vulnerabilitiesImplement, test, and support new and emerging technologies while applying security best practices and required compliance measuresConduct risk assessments to determine residual level of risk and any required mitigationsInstall and configure systems in compliance with government regulationsEnsure proper operational support of systems, servers, and hardware while engaging with stakeholders through ticketing systemGenerate and maintain system, security, and process documentationCollaborate with IT peers on the design of technical infrastructures targeting specific goalsMay participate in the review of current policies, procedures, and configurations; make recommendations for improvements or new implementationsMay present system and network security principles and technology solutions to diverse audiencesMinimally requires an Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A military background is highly preferred.
Required skills and experience areas include:
A current, fully adjudicated TOP SECRET (Tier 5) clearanceThe ability to certify and maintain information security related certification(Security+, CASP+, CySA+)NIST/ISO standards, DoD directives, and regulatory requirements (800-171/53, etc.)Systems integration in a heterogeneous network environmentOperating and providing systems administration and support in a high-security research computing environmentPreferred skills and experience areas include:
Automating management of Linux and Windows systemsVMware administration (vRealize, vSphere, NSX, SRM)Development of secure Linux and Windows system baseline configurationsLDAP authentication and managementEnterprise storage resources (ECS, Unity, PowerStore)Systems management (SCCM, Ansible, Redhat IDM)Active Directory/Group Policy

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
