Designs, builds and produces graphics, animations, and other interactive tools (forms, polls, questionnaires) for use on UHCC's websites. Resolves problems and troubleshoot technical issues quickly; identifying the cause(s), researching solutions and taking action to prevent programming and/or system problems from reoccurring. Work closely with the UH ITS and web technical team to maintain UHCC's websites security and standards. Ensures that UHCC's websites and its content and applications are accessible and compliant for a variety of different audiences. Design and execute an evaluation strategy to measure effectiveness of UHCC's websites and other online digital platforms including tracking and reporting on metrics. Ensures consistent visual image and branding of the UHCC online presence according to University of Hawai`i standards while translating creatives into online versions through the use of consistent fonts, formatting icons, images, layout techniques, and design. Identify threats and opportunities in user-generated online content surrounding UHCC brand and report to appropriate parties. Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting/programming languages, frameworks, security issues, authoring tools, and graphic design tools. Draft and finalize text for web pages. Create copy, edit and proofread all web content, as well as ensure that all links are working and content is accurate. Coordinate with all departments on web and other UHCC marketing projects as assigned. Work cooperatively with key team members, clients and vendors. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Professional Work Experience Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related fields and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for computer systems, hardware and software associated with web design, content and application development with strong writing and editing skills, of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawaii broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Considerable working knowledge of web design and application development (including Cascade, WordPress, Drupal, etc.) as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts, principles and methodology. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology, systems, hardware and software associated with web design and application development. Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to determine, evaluation, integrate, and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing and graphic design software. If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations. Supplemental Minimum Qualifications Considerable working knowledge of HTML, Cascade, WordPress, Drupal, JavaScript, PHP and XML. Considerable ability to program in procedural and object orientated styles. Considerable working knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets and Media Queries. Demonstrated ability to develop clean, structured programs and conduct thorough testing and validation of website functionality. Demonstrated ability to work with one or more relational databases, (i.e. Oracle, Access, MySQL, SQL Serve) Considerable working knowledge of the Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver) or similar application to convert design into a functioning website by hard coding or using IDE with understanding of designing navigation systems. Working knowledge of accessibility and usability concepts and disability requirements for web-based applications. Working knowledge to develop and implement online forms, polls, and other web user interfaces. Considerable ability to translate offline creatives into online creatives such as websites, promotional microsites, digital banner ads, email campaigns, online forms, etc. Demonstrated ability to speak, read, comprehend, interpret, and write fluently in English. Possess exceptional communication and organizational skills. Possess exceptional English writing, proofreading and editing skills. Evidence of creativity, resourcefulness and initiative. Demonstrated ability to research and write copy that translates technical or discipline-specific terminology and/or visual analytics for a general, lay audience. Proficient with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.) Proficient using Google applications (e.g. Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) Ability to work outside of normally scheduled work hours including day, night, weekend and/or holidays as directed. Desirable Qualifications Advanced knowledge of HTML and experience with designing websites using popular content management systems such as Cascade, Wordpress, Drupal, etc. Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team with 3-5 years of experience managing content and production for high traffic websites. Considerable working knowledge of the Adobe Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere) to create graphics, animations, audio and videos for use on websites, social media, digital marketing and other advertising platforms. Proficient understanding of the social media platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, blogs, etc., with demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media. Understand Associated Press (AP) style writing, University of Hawai'i style writing, and familiar with Hawaiian grammar. Possesses a valid driver's license.
