Created for upcoming Junior and Senior college students, our full-time (40 hours/week), 12-week programs are designed to provide hands-on experience within your area of interest. As an Intern, you will join over 19,000 talented individuals across five states who are leaders, critical thinkers, accountable, innovative, flexible, and results-minded with the same goal - to better serve our communities.Location: 1 Food City Circle, Abingdon, VA (Corporate Departments)Housing options are available through partnership with Emory & Henry University in Emory, VADescription: As an Industrial Engineering Intern, you will be an essential member of Food City's Continuous Improvement team. With daily mentor training and/or advisor support, you will study the retail and grocery business, and complete an operational analysis project using a combination of human relation skills, time studies, Lean work design, report and dashboard creation, and human factors engineering to grow and contribute. At the program's conclusion, you will present the project to K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc.'s Executive Leadership team. Additional experiences for this internship program include touring behind-the-scenes at Food City retail locations, as well as our 1.2M sq. ft. distribution center, collaboration and social opportunities with fellow Food City Interns, an attending a store opening ceremony to study and assist with a grand opening event.Program Requirements:Currently enrolled in a college or university as a Junior or Senior, majoring in Industrial Engineering or relevant field of study.Recently graduated with an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering or relevant field of study.Minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative.Have strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.Ability to preserve confidentiality of company information.Ability to work with own initiative.Microsoft Excel competencies including but not limited to formatting, reference functions, and pivot tables.
