MHS is currently seeking a highly qualified, dynamic High School Social Studies Teacher to plan, prepare, and deliver career-focused and literacy enriched lessons with rigor and relevance.
They create and analyze data informed formative and summative assessments to differentiate instruction, inform programming, and accommodate individual students and whole group needs to ensure student achievement.
MHS teachers also support critical school initiatives including wellness, and social & emotional skills, ensuring a whole child approach is taken to student development.
This position requires a commitment to remediating students beyond regular classroom hours and a requirement to schedule and complete an additional duty to their teaching schedules. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Ed Social Studies and Social Studies teacher certification required.
Advanced degree a plus.
Experience teaching high school social studies to diverse students from disadvantaged backgrounds desired.
Skilled in using data to inform & differentiate instruction to foster student success.
Positive behavioral management & classroom management skills are essential.
Demonstrated skills in applying current trends in education including leveraging technology and integrating 21st century learning skills.
Highly skilled in effectively collaborating with others, including multi-disciplinary teams.
Effective in using creative teaching strategies to increase students’ critical thinking skills.
Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are considered role models for students.
Candidates must be eager to actively engage with students beyond the classroom.
