Applied Computational Mathematician

As a Applied Computational Mathematician at SNC, your fundamental responsibility will be to derive value out of data. You will use your mathematical skills to develop and implement advanced mathematical models of physical systems to derive mission critical information. You will process, cleanse, and validate the data integrity of that data and enhance it where required using third party data sources and other techniques.
The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.
Responsibilities:Develop and maintain numerical algorithmsWork closely with analyst and customer engagement teams to improve internal algorithmsAnalyze algorithm output errors and advise leadership on recommended improvementsWork closely with software engineering team to deploy and maintain production algorithms
Must-haves:Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least years of relevant experienceHigher education may substitute for relevant experienceRelevant experience may be considered in lieu of required educationData-oriented personalityApplied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithmsUnderstanding of mathematical modeling of physical systemsUnderstanding of numerical analysis and computation algorithm development
Preferred:Familiarity with common Digital Signals Processing libraries and techniquesFamiliarity with common math modeling tools such as Matlab, Octave, Maple, etc.Familiarity with data visualization toolsFamiliarity with software development and software development life cycle best practicesFamiliarity with a common programming language used in numerical computation such as C, C++, FORTRAN, Python
