Purpose/Summary Accurately diagnoses designs, coordinates and efficiently executes a range of maintenance related procedures on equipment, buildings, grounds and vehicles pertaining to the area of expertise. Assists with the guidance of other Maintenance employees in Levels II and III. Essential Duties and Responsibilities MAINTENANCE 1: ELECTRICAL Electrical Journeyman must be able to work independently to complete repairs, maintenance and installation of all types of low, line and high voltage single and three phase electrical equipment and systems.

Repairs and supports the installation of: smoke alarms, strobes, and pull stations for all types of fire alarm system; PA system speakers, volume controls; audio/visual systems; security equipment and systems including door monitors, security cameras, door controls; all types of interior and exterior lighting; motors, starters and controls; conduit and wiring for electrical distribution systems/equipment, electrical distribution panels. Responds and troubleshoots various work order requests. Reports issues or concerns to direct supervisors and fulfill other duties and tasks as assigned. Assists the Supervisor of Maintenance Services in the preparation of job assignments, job training of new and inexperienced employees.

MAINTENANCE 1: PLUMBING (Master Plumber) Plumbing Journeyman must be able to work independently to complete repairs, maintenance and installation of all types of plumbing equipment and systems.

Repairs and supports the installation of: plumbing fixture and trim; complex plumbing repairs for liquid gas; backflow preventers; roof drain piping and systems; storm water piping, catch basins outlet structures; sanitary waste and vent piping, chemical waste and vent piping, domestic water piping and equipment; kitchen equipment including garbage disposals, domestic hot water heaters and circulation pumps; fire protection and sprinkler systems; irrigation systems piping, controls, pumps, heads; pool circulation and filter systems and equipment; cutting and threading of pipe. Interprets rules and regulations of jurisdiction areas. Assists the Supervisor of Maintenance Services in preparation of job assignments, job training of new and inexperienced employees. Responds and troubleshoots various work order requests. Reports issues or concerns to direct supervisors and fulfill other duties and tasks as assigned.

MAINTENANCE 1: CARPENTRY Carpentry Journeyman must be able to work independently to complete repairs, maintenance and installation of all types of carpentry and lock equipment and systems.

Repairs and supports the installation of: all types of doors, locks, closers, hinges, panic hardware; electronic door controls and locks; metal or wood wall framing, drywall and plaster wall applications; suspended ceiling systems including grid and ceiling tiles; wood, vinyl and carpet flooring systems; wood trim, chair rail; cabinet and file cabinet locks; windows and hardware components; rekeying of various types of locksets. Responds and troubleshoots work order requests. Reports issues or concerns to direct supervisors and fulfill other duties and tasks as assigned. Assists the Supervisor of Maintenance Services in the preparation of job assignments, job training of new and inexperienced employees.

MAINTENANCE 1: HVAC HVAC Journeyman must be able to work independently to complete repairs, maintenance and installation of all types of cooling, heating, ventilation and exhaust equipment and systems. This will include various types of maintenance/repairs/installation of the following: Brazing and soldering; troubleshoot boilers and burners, cooling towers, chillers, unit ventilators, refrigeration and heat pump systems, pumps; exhaust fans, VAV boxes; dampers, reheat coils; kitchen equipment; ATC/DDC control systems including, Pneumatic, Electric, Hydraulic and Electronic Assists the Supervisor of Maintenance Services in the preparation of job assignments, job training of new and inexperienced employees. Responds and troubleshoots work order requests. Completes training requirements for job and complies with District practices and procedures. Reports issues or concerns to direct supervisors and fulfill other duties and tasks as assigned.

MAINTENANCE 1: FIELDS, GROUNDS, ROOFING Fields/Grounds/Roofing Journeyman must be able to work independently with minor supervision to complete repairs, maintenance and installation of all types of field maintenance equipment and systems.

Repairs and supports the installation of: irrigation systems piping, controls, pumps, heads; rubber, shingle, metal and modified roofing systems; ceramic and vct floor tile, stair treads and carpeting; various types of masonry, grout joint repair, concrete repair; masonry; baseball, football, soccer, softball equipment including bases, pitchers mounds, goals; landscaping, shrubs, trees and removal of dead trees and shrubs Operation of the field maintenance tractor with various attachments, field screening equipment and edging equipment Prepares fields in accordance with various WPIAL athletic requirements and measurements. Ability to transport equipment under DOT regulations, secure equipment to trailers, and transport materials and chemicals safely. Responds and troubleshoots work order requests. Reports issues or concerns to direct supervisor and fulfills other duties and tasks as assigned. Assists the Supervisor of Maintenance Services in the preparation of job assignments, job training of new and inexperienced employees.

Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or G.E.D., additional education preferred. Minimum five years of experience in related field or master equivalents. Journeyman status and/or 3 years of schooling or certifications. Certifications or qualifications must be maintained to keep Level I status. Ability to research and provide necessary information for problem solving and maintaining district buildings and grounds. Ability to review, measure, estimate, order, removes and install all materials needed to complete assignments. Must be able to read, understand, interpret and apply wiring and control diagrams. Must be able to review, measure, estimate, order, remove and install materials needed to complete assignments. Must understand and apply the ASHRAE, ASME, National Electrical and the BOCA codes/requirements to their assigned tasks. (Electrical Only) Language Skills Must possess the ability to use the language in both oral and written form. Be able to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Ability to read, analyze and interpret manufactures instructions and communicates this information to others.

Math Skills Knowledge of arithmetic, measurements, accounting and their applications. Possesses a very high degree of mechanical aptitude. Technology Skills Demonstrate competency with up-to-date computer software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Micro Main Work Order System, and Energy Management Systems (HVAC Only). Other Skills and Abilities Possesses a high level of interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing his/her skills in the maintenance trade. Leads by example as a positive image to other District Staff. Some training on new equipment will be provided.
