Laboratory Technician

Location: Dayton, OH 45417
Duration: 12 months contract (with possible extension)
Flexible to work 1st (8:00am-4:30pm) and 2nd (4:30pm-12:30am) shift when needed.

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Support transfer and scale up of advanced materials
Primary support for synthesis of polymers
Maintaining the labs including cleaning of glassware, waste management, transfer of solvents from the plant to the labs, keeping track of raw material consumptions, and general housekeeping
Documentation of experiments and scale-up work
Safely working in R&D laboratories
Perform polymer synthesis in 50L to 100L glass jacketed reactors.
Supports quality investigations and other R&D/Production activities as assigned.
Maintaining labs, including cleaning of glassware, waste management, transfer of solvents from the plant to the labs, keeping track of raw material consumptions, and general housekeeping.
Documentation of experiments, production, and scale-up work
Qualifications:
Associate degree in chemistry or other technical or scientific field, Bachelor degree preferred
Experience in lab synthesis and polymer chemistry
Experience setting up glassware for polymer and organic synthesis
Experience working with glass reactors (tens of liters scale) in a pilot or lab facility
Willing and able to work off-shift, night-shift, and rotating shifts
Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment including respirator
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing (MS Word)
Able to perform physical work consistent with corporate ergonomic guidelines. Can lift up to 55 lbs.
A proven track record of having a strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
The following skill sets are preferred by the site:
Experience with data analysis to identify problems and plan a path forward for resolution
Experience with data interpretation from various analytical techniques
Experience working in an ISO/AS9100 certified working environment

High school education with lab experience, associate or bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or related technical or scientific field
Experience in chemical synthesis in lab or chemical manufacturing environment.
Able to perform physical work (e.g., lifting to 20kg.). and use drum carts to move upto180kg consistent with corporate ergonomic guidelines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment including respirator, safety shoes, goggles, and gloves.
