The Associate VP, Infrastructure Operations is responsible for the continuous operations of Humana’s production environments both Cloud (GCP, AWS and Azure) and Data center within its core business lines and all subsidiaries. Acting as part of a tiered technology support organization, leads an organization responsible for stability and maintenance of MF, Compute, Storage, Database, and by extension Network/ Telecom across all business lines. Lead the organization to focus on fast and cost-competitive operations through software-controlled infrastructure, open technologies and agile infrastructure.
The chosen Executive will lead an Infrastructure Operations organization focused on Production Support accountable for production daily management and stability. As the AVP of Infrastructure Operations you will be responsible for operating Humana’s production environments including Cloud (GCP, AWS and Azure) and data center services. Acting as part of an ITSM tiered support organization, implement the operational support protocols for Compute, Storage, Database, Middleware, and by extension Network, Telecom. This leader will be point for leading the team through the change effort to be successful in the public cloud. Reports to the VP of Infrastructure Operations within the CTO (Chief Technology organization) partners with Enterprise Applications development, develops and leads a highly experienced team to establish and execute the strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day management of core technology platforms and operations across all lines of business; manage all infrastructure services for critical systems; and ensure business operations meet business functional and continuity requirements.
Lead the organization to focus on fast and cost-competitive delivery through software-controlled infrastructure, cloud technologies and agile infrastructure.
Implement Agile methodologies to improve production stability, reduce defects, and increase team responsiveness to business needs.
Working with Infrastructure Engineering, leverage software-defined technologies and optimize infrastructure as code practices for our large-scale infrastructure environment. Provide input on key decisions for the use of open-source technology and drive the change necessary to keep Humana on the leading edge. Keep the pace at “one step ahead”.
Reduce risk, cost, and complexity due to end-of-life infrastructure.
As a senior technology operations leader, ensure high-performance by attracting, engaging and retaining highly qualified individuals to achieve business objectives and optimization of accountability.
Establish a team which can diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues in a multi-datacenter, multi-cloud networked environment.
Oversee the prompt and effective resolution of production / service issues and ensure that root causes are correctly identified and addressed.
Recruit, hire, and motivate a high performing technical team that values transparency and accountability and working as part of a team.
Identify the most efficient and effective use of both in-house and outsourced services for cloud applications, data center, computing, information security, data and voice networks, storage, systems, and infrastructure services.
Foster a culture of continuous learning by encouraging skill development in software-defined technologies, automation tools, and Agile methodologies.
Required Qualifications
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar field required.
10+ years of experience leading Technology support, preferably in a senior healthcare management role where they have provided operations thought leadership, strategic advisory services, and large project management.
10+ years in a senior leadership role providing production operation support for SaaS, cloud-based, and outsourced solutions through third party providers
Prior experience with cloud transformation in a large organization (F500)
Direct Production Support accountability, preferably Datacenter environments, Cloud environment, Mainframe and Midrange, optionally Network, Telecom, VDI
Experience in an environment with large-scale datacenter operations, major cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud across a distributed production network.
Familiar with standard ITIL/ITSM routines
Experience in operational and capital finances, and IT budget development
Organizing work and achieving timely and effective results through others, both internal and external to the organization.
Proven capacity for, and experience with, working in an executive-level environment to accomplish mutual goals and overarching objectives.
Budget responsibility > $100-150M
Experience in working with help desks and offshore operations preferred.
Hands on experience in a multi-vendor environment is required
Ability to develop action plans with work estimates as part of IT projects
Have worked with a high-availability systems environment
Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
MS or higher in an engineering discipline is preferred.
Familiar with an operating environment that leverages Business Process Outsourcing
A background familiar with supporting VoIP systems, mobile device management, and unified communications platforms is important.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$185,700 - $255,500 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
