Job DetailsResponsibilities:
- Counseling clients on estate planning, retirement asset planning, and the legal aspects of wealth transfer.
- Drafting and reviewing various legal documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
- Advising clients on estate and gift tax matters, as well as medicaid eligibility planning.
- Navigating complex legal issues related to property law and estate administration.
- Representing clients in probate court proceedings as needed.
- Staying updated on changes in Virginia law and regulations that may impact clients' estate plans.
- Collaborating with other attorneys and professionals to ensure that clients' needs are met.
- Participating in business development activities to attract new clients and maintain relationships with existing clients.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Virginia and be in good standing with the Virginia Bar.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in estate planning, retirement asset planning, and related areas of law.
- Demonstrated knowledge of wills, trusts, property law, and other relevant legal disciplines.
- Experience in drafting both revocable and irrevocable trusts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
