Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Smart Hands Technician with a strong background in onsite data center operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with rack and stack procedures, server break/fix, and a deep understanding of data center infrastructure. This role requires a hands-on individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and provide exceptional technical support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform onsite support activities including rack and stack of equipment, cable management, and physical hardware troubleshooting.
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
- Execute server break/fix tasks, including diagnostics, part replacement, and system restoration.
- Coordinate with remote teams and provide hands-on support for various IT infrastructure projects.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of data center equipment.
- Manage and document hardware inventory, ensuring accuracy and availability.
- Ensure compliance with data center policies, security protocols, and safety standards.
- Respond to and resolve technical incidents and service requests promptly.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support data center operations and project deployments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to best practices for data center management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or degree in a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a data center environment with hands-on experience in rack and stack, server maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and cabling systems.
- Proficiency in using various tools and equipment for hardware installation and repair.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as required.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A , Server , or equivalent.
- Experience with network switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Familiarity with data center management software and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data center operations.
