We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting functions while supporting the financial operations of our non-profit organization. This role will blend accounting and finance responsibilities, ensuring the organization's financial health and compliance with applicable regulations
OVERVIEW OF THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare and manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to deadlines.
- Assist in the preparation of the organization's financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships to ensure the financial stability of the organization.
- Support the Director of Finance in developing financial strategies and ensuring the alignment of financial operations with the organization's mission.
- Ensure compliance with non-profit accounting standards, including grant management, fund accounting, and donor reporting.
- Assist in managing the annual audit process, ensuring all documentation is accurate and available for auditors.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making for both the executive team and program leaders.
- Work with fundraising and development teams to track donations, grants, and restricted funds, ensuring accurate financial reporting for donors.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior accounting staff to ensure the effective operation of the finance department.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ACCOUNTING MANAGER:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in the non-profit sector.
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, including fund accounting, grant management, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing and supervising accounting teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
