POSITION SUMMARY
Since the doors opened in 1972, this factory has grown dramatically into a sustainable state-of-the-art facility. In 2013, we completed our largest solar project yet by installing a 450-kilowatt photovoltaic system of nearly 1,900 panels. The amount of energy produced annually by this solar array could power nearly 52 average-sized homes, or approximately 5,000 lights bulbs for an entire year. With sustainability and safety always top of mind, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Fit & Trim®, Friskies®, Nestlé Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®. This plant location is just along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta – an area that nearly 5 million residents and over 340 of our associates can call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast and, if this beautiful city were a country, it would be the 28th largest economy in the world.
As Quality Analyst I you will provide analysis of ingredients to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards. You will be performing multiple chemical tests of finished product samples and escalating tests when needed. You will be responsible for ensuring all products are manufactured according to product formulation and quality specification requirements.
Sample, test, and approve all ingredients meeting specifications.Communicate with St. Louis TAG and Quality Assurance to arrange acceptable ingredient substitutions when normal formulation cannot be followed.Maintain approved product formulas for batching and maintain all regulatory requirements.Run bone density testing, ash testing, acidity testing, and water analysis on the shred process.Communicate with production teams to ensure production equipment functions correctly and finished product meets package guarantees.Determine physical and chemical properties of ingredients and finished product as directed by Q.A. program.Follow laboratory practices and lab safety manual guidelines.
Requirements
HS Diploma or GED Equivalent1+ years’ experience working in a food quality, lab, manufacturing, production, or related environmentMust be able and willing to work overnight shift, (11pm-7am) Monday-Friday and every other Saturday and Sunday
The approximate pay for this position is $50,013. Please note that the pay provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
