Description: We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to create custom one-of-a-kind speaker solutions. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a member of the James Custom Engineering Team, working with Integrators, Product Managers, and other Engineers. The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible with the initial design and feasibility of custom products. This role is customer-facing and will require not only design skills in CAD, but also a passion and an ability to work with internal and external teams. The work is exciting, fast-paced and involves communicating directly with key customers and internal leadership to gather initial mechanical and performance requirements and present design concepts.
How you'll do it:Rapidly design concepts to prove function and overall feature-setCreate shop drawings for made-to-order soundbarsWork with internal manufacturing team members and outside contractors to meet deadlines and fit/function requirementsParticipate in Customer Meetings to capture product requirements and collaborate on initial design conceptsParticipate in Design reviews and incorporate design feedback into design revisionsDeliver completed mechanical designs to Fabrication teamSupport the product testing & production effortsProvide input and support into ECN changes and modifications as requiredWorks closely with key leaders internally in sales, marketing, product and engineering teamsPM21
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related degreeAbility to tackle projects in sprints: rapidly design, prototype and deliver feasible designs in 1-2 week period time framesAbility to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization to technical and non-technical stakeholdersSelf-Starter with a whatever-it-takes mentality to meet deadlines and customer needsExperience with audio and speaker systems1-2 years' experience with 2D and 3D CAD (Solidworks, AutoCAD)Investigative mind inclined toward developing practical solutions to real-world problemsProficiency with Microsoft OfficeProficiency with hand tools, power tools and fabrication equipmentExperience in customer service roles
